“we must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us” – Joseph campbell.
This quote is very important to me, as I think it is very important in most peoples lives. I feel like we all have a plan of how we want our lives to go, and we can either go with the flow of life, or hang on to our plan.
Sometimes holding tight onto what we want may seem like the best thing to do, but it also may distract us from other opportunities that we maybe hadn’t considered, but could be a much better option for us.
For me, I had no plans to move out when I did, but when it came round to it, it felt right. And I never would have thought that I’d be doing a course on being a beauty therapist. I had no idea what I wanted to be, but taking that chance has shown me a career that I never thought of, and love.
When I was young I don’t Think I’d have ever thought my life would be like this at this point. I’m (nearly) 22, I’m in a longterm relationship, I have a puppy, I’m looking into moving into my first home, and working towards getting a job in a career that I really enjoy. If I’d have held onto my thoughts of what I thought I wanted back then (staying with my friends) I don’t think I’d be nearly as happy and independent as I am now. Following this unplanned path has been a real eye opener to the world and experiences.
In life I’ve learned that change isn’t something to be afraid of.
